<br />r-3~p <br />"~J ~u <br /> <br />which deals with the Republic of Mexico on Colorado River <br />problems; the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Forum, which <br />deals with the salinity problems of the Colorado River; the <br />Arkansas-White-Red Basins Inter-Agency Committee, the Pacific- <br />Southwest Inter-Agency Committee, and the Missouri River Basin <br />Commission. These committees and the commission are composed of <br />representatives of state and federal agencies, and they deal <br />with the water and related land problems of the respective river <br />basins. The director and staff members also serve as advisors <br />to the Colorado member of the Upper Colorado River Commission. <br />A member of the Colorado Water Conservation Board is also a <br />member of the Colorado Water Quality Control Commission. <br /> <br />Program Title: Flood Control and Conservation <br /> <br />Target Public: All federal, state and local entities that are engaged in <br />flood studies and floodplain zoning, along with members of <br />the general public who could be affected by floods. <br /> <br />Purpose: The section that deals with this category investigates, proposes, <br />supervises, and coordinates all activities relating to flood <br />prevention and control; establishes and maintains a flood data <br />collection system; assists local entities in the preparation, <br />designation, and zoning of flood hazard areas; provides guide- <br />lines to local entities for obtaining flood insurance; and <br />cooperates with other state and federal agencies in the planning <br />and implementation of flood control and soil conservation <br />programs. <br /> <br />Program Title: Projects PlanninR and Construction <br /> <br />Target Public: All water users in the state, along with federal, state <br />and local entities that are engaged in planning and <br />administration of water-related projects. <br /> <br />Purpose: The section responsible for this category accomplishes <br />comprehensive planning for the development; utilization, <br />management, and conservation of all water resources in the state. <br />Under the Board's construction fund program, it initiates <br />planning and supervises construction of water resource projects; <br />prepares applications for federal planning and construction <br />assistance; investigates the efficiency of water use and proposes <br />methods and practices to increase the efficiency of such use; <br />and cooperates with other state agencies, other states, com- <br />missions and inter-agency committees, and federal agencies <br />responsible for, and engaged in, comprehensive water resource <br />planning activities. <br /> <br />Program Title: Environment and Water Quality <br /> <br />Target Public: All state and federal agencies, environmental organizations, <br />and members of the general public who are interested in <br />environmental and water quality matters. <br /> <br />-2- <br />
