RELATED STATUTES <br /> <br />Title 37, Articles 60 through 69, CRS 1973, as amended, are all statutes <br />with mandates. <br /> <br />Among the statutory duties as set forth in the statutes are those charging <br />the Board to promote the conservation of the waters of the state of <br />Colorado in order to secure the greatest utilization of such waters and <br />the utmost prevention of floods; and for this purpose to make investigations <br />and surveys, to cooperate with the United States and the agencies thereof <br />and with other states for these purposes: to protect the authority, <br />interests and rights of the state and its citizens with respect to waters <br />of interstate streams in this state; to acquire real property for flood <br />control projects; to acquire or perfect water rights for projects sponsored <br />by the Board, and for minimum streamflows and natural lake levels; to <br />designate and approve floodplains, and storm or floodwater runoff channels; <br />and to enter into contracts for projects authorized under the Colorado <br />Water Conservation Board Construction Fund. <br /> <br />Responsible for fiscal, personnel, and budgetary matters of the Board. <br /> <br />II. PROGRAMS <br /> <br />Program Title: Policy Formulation <br /> <br />Target Public: Entire population of Colorado, and because of the legislative <br />mandate concerning interstate waters and treaties or compacts <br />on such waters, the Republic of Mexico, the federal govern- <br />ment, and the states of Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, <br />California, Nevada, Nebraska, Kansas and Texas. <br /> <br />Purpose: To promote the conservation of the waters of the state of Colorado <br />in order to secure the greatest utilization of such waters and the <br />utmost prevention of floods; to cooperate with the United States <br />and the agencies thereof, and with other states for the purpose of <br />bringing about the greater utilization of the waters of the state <br />of Colorado; and to investigate the plans, purposes, and activities <br />of other states and of the federal government, which might' affect <br />the interstate waters of Colorado. <br /> <br />The director of the Board is a member of the Arkansas River Compact <br />Administration.
