San Juan-Chama
Water Accounting
Albuquerque Area Office
March 1999

The natural inflow into Heron Reservoir during the month of March was computed
to be 1.065 acre-feet (AF) as shown in Table 3. There were 908 AF net San
Juan-Chama (SJ-C) losses, as shown in Table 2. Diversions through Azotea
Tunnel began on March 5. A total of 4,144 AF of water was diverted through
Azotea Tunnel this month,

A total of 1.104 AF of Natural (RG) was released from Heron during the month.
A total of 6,674 AF of SJ-C water was released from Heron, which was delivered
to the City of Albuquerque in Abiquiu as a portion of the City's 1999 Heron
allocation,

A total of 214 AF of SJ-C was released from El Va do this month. all of which
represented pay-back from MRGCD to the City of Albuquerque for SJ-C borrowed
from the City Pool in Abiquiu during the 1998 irrigation season,

A total of 278 AF of SJ-C was released from Abiquiu during the month. which
was borrowed from the City of Albuquerque Pool and delivered to Cochiti as a
portion of the remaining 1998 evaporation replacement water.

There was 0.53 inches of precipitation at Heron Reservoir, which is 31% of the
March (running) average of 1.70 inches. The monthly computations for Heron
Reservoir are summarized in Tables 1-3,

Total inflow into Nambe Falls Reservoir was computed to be 328 AF, There were
10.1 AF of losses on the reservoir, Table 4 summarizes San Juan-Chama water at
Otowi ,

Estimated sediment deposition in the San Juan-Chama pools at Abiquiu and Jemez
Canyon Reservoirs, and Cochiti Lake are presented in Tables 5A-5C. Storage
and evaporation of Rio Grande water in El Vado and Abiquiu Reservoirs are
shown in Table 6.

All data are provisional and subject to revision as final data are collected
and analyzed.
