San Juan-Chama
Water Accounting
Albuquerque Area Office
Apri 1 1999

The natural inflow into Heron Reservoir during the month of April
was computed to be 890 acre-feet (AF) as shown in Table 3. There
were 872 AF net San Juan-Chama (SJ-C) losses, as shown in Table
2. A total of 12,156 AF of water was diverted through Azotea
Tunnel this month.

A total of 406 AF of Natural (RG) was released from Heron during
the month. Due to gate maintenance, the remaining 822 AF of RG.
could not be released during the month. A three to four day
release has been planned for the month of May to zero out Heron's
RG content. There were no SJ-C releases from Heron this month.

A total of 268 AF of SJ-C was released from El Vado this month,
all of which represented pay-back from MRGCD to the City of
Albuquerque for SJ-C borrowed from the City Pool in Abiquiu
during the 1998 irrigation season.

A total of 13,097 AF of SJ-C was released from Abiquiu during the
month, of which 1,453 AF was released from MRGCD's pool to
satisfy irrigation demands in the Middle Rio Grande Valley; 7,311
AF was released from a pool of water procured by Reclamation in
1998 for water management within the Middle Valley; 549 AF was
released from the City of Santa Fe's pool to offset estimated
cumulative effects on the Rio Grande below the Otowi gage as a
result of pumping at the Buckman Well Field from July 1, 1998
through October 31, 1998; 113AF was released from The Town of
Bernalillo's pool (temporarily stored in the City of
Albuquerque's allocated space) to offset the estimated cumulative
effects on the Rio Grande due to water use by the Town of
Bernalillo during the period of July 1, 1998 through October 31,
1998; and, under the terms of a contract between Reclamation and
the City of Albuquerque, 3,653 AF was released from the City of
Albuquerque Pool for water management within the Middle Rio
Grande Valley.

There was 2.08 inches of precipitation at Heron Reservoir, which
is 189% of the April (running) average of 1.10 inches. The
monthly computations for Heron Reservoir are summarized in Tables
1- 3.

Total inflow into Nambe Falls Reservoir was computed to be 560
AF. There were 11,9 AF of losses on the reservoir. Table 4
