Withdrawal of Public Lands from Sale <br /> <br />(a) Public lands included in boundaries of designated <br />rivers are withdrawn from entry, sale, or other <br />disposition. <br /> <br />(b) Lands within ~ mile of Sec. 5(a) rivers are <br />withdrawn for the 5-year (+3 year) period. <br /> <br />Section 9. U. S. ~in1ng and Mineral Leasing Laws <br /> <br />(a) Nothing in this Act shall affect U,,' S. min1:il.g <br />and mineral leasing laws except: <br /> <br />(i) AJ.l prospecting, mining, and other activities <br />on claims not perfected prior to inclusion <br />of river in system will be subject to Secre- <br />taries' regulations. <br /> <br />(ii) Issuance of patent to lands within system <br />sha11 convey mineral and reasonable surface <br />rights only and operations must be consistent <br />with Secretary's regulations. <br /> <br />(iii) Subject to existing rights, minerals in Federal <br />lands within ~ mile on each side of a river <br />classified as wild (instant or subsequent) are <br />withdrawn from!iPPropriation. <br /> <br />, (b) During period of withdrawal pending study, mineral <br />leases, licenses, and permits may be issued subject <br />to conditions prescribed by Secretary.' <br /> <br />Section 10.
