The water ordered but not taken for
calendar year 1981 was approximately 6,605 acre-feet more than
calendar year 1980.

Disposition of Water Ordered but not Taken

Month

Water Ordered
But Not Taken

January
February
March
April
May
June
July
August
September
October
November
December

29,699
17,333
43,217
17,540
22,066
8,687
9,732
28,856
16,837
10,798
9,095
10,583

TOTAL

224,443

Delivered
to Storage

Taken by
Others

Delivered to Mexico
in Excess of Treaty

24,401
6,598
20,697
10,863
15,557
4,923
5,661
10,740
12,054
5,733
4,912
5,145

5,298
5,972
10,562
5,009
6,509
3,764
4,071
5,289
4,783
5,065
4,183
5,438

o
4,763
11,958
1,668
o
o
o
12,827
o
o
o
o

127 ,284

65,943

31,216

The overdelivery to Mexico for calendar year 1981 was
342,478 acre-feet. This includes 31,216 acre-feet charged to
United States users not taking water ordered on the master schedule
which could not be retained in storage or taken by others.

The remaining 311 ,262 acre-feet resulted from anticipatory releases
for flood control and Gila River bank storage returns during the early
part of the year and regulatory waste occurring below Imperial Dam.
In addition, Mexico's minimum order during the entire month of January
was partly the cause of the need for dilution water for salinity
control purposes.

Flows and diversions for the principal points listed on the master
schedule are shown on Table No. 1 and Chart No.1. These are
provisional records and are subject to revision. Table No. 2 shows
the calendar year 1981 summary of water users contracting for or

4
