Sweetwater Hydroelectric Project This project, also known as Rocky Mountain Power Company (ROMPOCO) is a complex project located on the South Fork of the White River and the Colorado River. The option for the project is currently held by the Rio Blanco Oil Shale Project. The major rights are: Name De creed Capaci ty Appropriation Date Meadows ReselVoir 98,787 Af 18 December 1957 Patterson Creek Diversion Pipeline 160 cfs 18 December 1957 Wagon Wheel Creek Diversion Pipeline 100 cfs 18 December 1957 Buck Creek Diversion Canal 50 cfs 18 December 1957 The project is located near the wilderness area and in the White River National Forest and would compete for the same water as the more senior South Fork- Piceance Pipeline, Stillwater ReselVoir and Ertl Pipeline. Objections to diverting the flow from the South Fork could be expected from fishing and environmental groups. The Rio Blanco Oil Shale Project has recently petitioned the water court to transfer the points of diversion from the South Fork and its tributaries to the White River near Yellow Creek. The matter is presently pending with the court. -7-
