Governor Romer and Lt. Governor Schoettler <br />convened a forum to bring all sides together to resolve the <br />Animas-La Plata Project controversy. Represented at the meeting <br />were the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, <br />Project proponents, Project opponents, Department of Interior, <br />Environmental Protection Agency, and representatives of the <br />states of Colorado and New Mexico (a total of seven groups or <br />teams). Each group presented their issues, discussed a "Stand <br />StiU' agreement (activities to be put on hold during the process) <br />and brain stormed an initial Project criteria list. <br /> <br />Second Romer/Schoettler Process meeting held in Denver, <br />Colorado. Participants agreed to generate lists of criteria to <br />evaluate the projects, lists of options to constructing the Animas <br />La-Plata Project and/or any part of the Project, and list of <br />question needing to be answered. AU list to be discussed at the <br />next Romer/Schoettler Process Meeting. The Governor's Office <br />set up an account that participants could draw on to help defray <br />meeting expenses($lO,OOO limit to each interested team).
