The net result of the intensive <br />wilderness inventory wi11 be to identify Proposed Wi1derness Study <br />Areas. District Managers are responsible for insuring appropriate <br />involvement by the pub1ic in the intensive wilderness inventory. The <br />intensive wilderness inventory will be documented in the format detailed <br />in Appendices 5 and 6 of the BLM Wilderness Inventory Handbook. <br /> <br />In order to take advantage of the fie1d season for on-the-ground work, <br />Districts may begin intensive wi1derness inventories based on the FV 79 <br />AWP prioties. after the SD's decision on Proposed Initial Inventory <br />Units is finalized (February 23, 1979). As the intensive inventory is <br />completed for a1l final inventory units within a Resource Area or P1anning <br />Area, District Managers wi11 transmit their recommendations for Proposed <br />Wi1derness Study Areas to the SD (this will allow sufficient State <br />Office review time and efficient preparation of the Proposed Wi1derness <br />Study Area State Map. <br /> <br />Date <br /> <br />2179 <br />through <br />11/79 <br /> <br />Process E1ement To Be Completed <br /> <br />Intensive Wilderness inventory of <br />those inventory units believed to <br />contain wilderness characteristics <br />(i.e. Wilderness characteristics <br />inventory of those inventory units <br />which appear on the Final <br />Wilderness Inventory Unit State <br />Map).
