He said power meter readingB~ as <br />well as individual studies, were used. and that 31 new wells were added to the <br />Arkansas Valley System this year. He also reported that between March and October <br />of 1967, the water table below JJhn Martin rose one-half a foot, and dropped five- <br />hundredths of a foot above John Martin. Mr. Moore stated that they estimate, in <br />1967. approximately 100,000 acre-feet were withdrawn from the ground water supply. <br /> <br />President Nichols then adjourned the meeting for lunch and requested the Directors to <br />return at 1: 00 p. m. in order that they might study a model of the Analog. <br /> <br />USGS ANALOG REPORT, CONTINUED: <br /> <br />FO.1Jowing lunch~ the Directors received a very detailed report on the Analog Model <br />from Mr. Don Alb,n, and several suggested it would be very helpful if this Model <br />could be displayed throughout the Arkansas Valley~ in order that constituents might <br />learn more about the Analog and its use. :F'o!lowin.'S the An-alog discussion. Mr. Mo:)re <br />said they are using the data on ground water storage in a study regarding artificial <br />recharge in the Valley, and that early data indicates the Valley is a possible recharge <br />area. Following the USGS presentation. several of the Directors Buggested that a <br />similar presentation should be given to the members of the Legislature and also that <br />printed material Or a film should be prepared on the Analog, in order that the gen- <br />eral pUblic might be aware of its value. <br /> <br />LAMAR DISCUSSION: <br /> <br />President Nichol9 said tha.t he had invited Colorado Water Co~servatiDn Board Director. <br />F. L. Spark.s to attend the January meeting to discuss the many ramifications involved <br />in the possible addition of Lamar and/or the entire area to the Colorado-Kansas Line <br />to the District. He slaled there is s possibility Senator Gordon AllolI will also be <br />able to attend, and provide bis observations regarding this matter.' Nichols reported <br />that be and Director J. Selby Young had met with George Russell, Lamar City Council- <br />man, and City Administrator Hiig.le, and requested a letter from them indicating <br />their continued interest. Copies of that letter dated December 12, 1967, were dis- <br />tributed to the members of the B09.rd of Directors prior to this meeting. A general <br />discussion then ensued regarding procedure to add a community or an area to the <br />District, involvrnents of representation on the Board. and general philosophy regard- <br />ing adding new customera to the District at this time. President Nichols concluded <br />the discussion by reporting that representatives from Lamar would attend the January <br />18 meeting, in order that the matter might be resolved. <br /> <br />'.' <br /> <br />CORPS OF ARMY ENGINEERS PROGRAM: <br /> <br />President Nichols read a letter dated December 7 from Colonel J~ H. Hottenroth .re- <br />questing a letter from the District setting forth our present activities and interests. <br />After general discusBion~ the Board asked the Attorney to draft a letter settiog forth <br />the items requested by the Colonel. <br /> <br />WATER ALLOCATION: <br /> <br />Attorney Beise read a letter dated December 19, Bumming up a meeting which he.had <br />with Project Ma:1.a.ger James Ogilvie, and General Manager Charles L. Thomso':l~ re- <br />garding a number of items involved in the water allocation study.
