General discussion was <br />had and Milenski moved, seconded by Shoup, that the President appoint a Committee <br />to carryon the research. Motion unanimously carried. President Nichols appointed <br />the Executive Committee with the General Manager and District Counsel a..q members. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />ENGINEERING COMMITTEE <br /> <br />Chairman Ciruli stated that his Committee will meet shortly after the first of the year <br />with representatives from th.= Black and Veatch Firm to discuss the Engineering ~s- <br />peets of their Study, <br /> <br />LEGAL COMMITTEE <br /> <br />Attorney Beise reported that the Intervenors in the "Record Case" had filed their brief <br />by December 14, and that the District now has 30 days to file our brief, He said he <br />has requested a 30 day extension. Attorney Beise also commented there is a good <br />possibility the Legislature will vote on the new Open Record Bill during the 1968 Session. <br /> <br />LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE <br /> <br />Chairman Dilley reported that he attended the Governorls Conference on Air and Water <br />PoUution, and was pleased to note that none of the participants offered any radical <br />suggestions or made any major demands relative to water pollution. He also reported <br />that Governor Love is still studying whether to put water matters on his Call for the <br />1968 Session, and asked whether or not the Directors felt it might be in the interest <br />of the District to write a letter to the Governor urging that he not put water legislation <br />on the 1968 Call due to the fset that the Study under SB 407 has not been completed, <br />After general discussion, Dilley moved seconded by George Everett, that the Manager <br />and the Attorney draft a letter to the Governor reaffirmtng the previous policy develop- <br />ed by the CO!1servancy District urging that no "piecemeal" Legislation be considered <br />by the State Legislature. Motion unanimo"J.sly carried. <br /> <br />RIVER ADMINISTRATION AND EDUCATION <br /> <br />ChaiI"man Wagner presented the firat copies of Brochure number. five, describing the <br />Fryingpan-Arkansas Project. He stated he felt Brochure number five would be in <br />heavy demand. and encouraged all of the Directors to take a supply for distribution <br />in their area. <br /> <br />MEETING REPORTS. <br /> <br />. National Reclamation Association: Delegates Shoun, Everett. Cooper~ and Past NRA <br />President Christy gave very interesting and comprehensive reports on the meeting <br />which they attended in Honolulu, November 13-17, 1967. Each felt the associations <br />made and the information obtained will prove very beneficial to the Conaervancy Dis- <br />trict in the future. The Board commended Harold Christy on the service he rendered <br />as President of NRA, and the recognition which his participation has brought to the <br />Conservancy District. <br /> <br />~ : <br /> <br />Co~orado River Water Users Association: Nichols, Wagner. Beise and Thomson <br />gave rep::>rts on this meeting. held in Las Vegas, Decembc-r 7-9, and each indicated <br />they felt the information obtained at the meeting will be of great service to the Con- <br />servancy District. Nichols reported that representatives from the seven Colorado <br />River States met regularly to resolve the problema related to the Central Arizona <br />Project. He said represent.l.tives from the other States were most complimentary <br />on the way in which Colorado Water Conservation Boa.rd Director Larry Sparks aB- <br />sisted in these negotiations. . . <br /> <br />-4- <br />
