<br />001384 <br /> <br />Consider the transfer of a portion of the Juniper decree to <br />stagecoach Reservoir for future enlargement of that facility, <br /> <br />Consider selling a portion of the Juniper decree to the US <br /> <br /> <br />Department of Interior for in stream flows primarily to benefit <br /> <br /> <br />the endangered fishes in the Yampa River. <br /> <br />While most present appeared to concur with this preliminary <br />recommendation, several in the audience, including the Juniper <br />conservancy District, expressed a desire to pursue development of <br />Juniper Reservoir. Juniper Dam would be located on the Yampa River <br />at Juniper Canyon. It would create a 800,000 acre foot reservoir. <br /> <br />At its Board meeting, the River District Directors heard from the <br />BLM about its recommendation for Wilderness designation at Cross <br />Mountain. The River District also holds reservoir decree on the <br />Yampa at Cross Mountain, development of which would be severely <br />hindered by a Wilderness designation spanning the river. The River <br />District has proposed alternative boundaries which would permit <br />both development of its Cross Mountain Project and protection of <br />Cross Mountain. <br /> <br />The Board also reviewed the potential effects to water development <br />of wild and Scenic designation of portions of the Yampa River <br />presently under consideration by the BLM. The Board agreed to <br />-MORE- <br />2 <br />
