July <br />30, 1992 to review and discuss issues affecting future water supply <br /> <br />and demands in the Yampa Valley. Additionally, the Board attended <br /> <br /> <br />a public meeting about the Yampa River Alternatives Study the night <br /> <br />prior. <br /> <br />The Alternatives Study is a technical study and a public process to <br />evaluate the water future of the Yampa River Basin and how the <br />River District's Juniper and Cross Mountain reservoir decrees can <br />assist. The Board of the River District initiated the study to aid <br /> <br />its evaluation of the alternative ways to put these valuable water <br /> <br />rights to beneficial consumptive use in order to meet future <br />demands for water in the Yampa Valley. The study's oreliminarv <br />recommendation, preserited at the public meeting is: <br />utilize a portion of the Juniper Reservoir decree to enlarge <br />the existing Elkhead Reservoir from its current capacity of <br /> <br />13,800 acre feet to 52,000 acre feet, <br /> <br />-MORE- <br />
