This f"i1ing is presumed to have lapsed. <br />Filing No. 7701 was also made in 1910 by other <br />private interests f"or construction of" a dam at <br />the Old Fort Eeservoir site about 1-1/2 miles <br />above Fort Morgan and below the mouth of" Bijou <br />Creek. This filing was supplemented in 1920 but <br />no f"urther action has been taken. <br /> <br />>- <br />... <br />z <br />::> <br />o <br />u <br /> <br />...-+ '"' <br /> <br />'\ <br /> <br />The Bureau of" Reclamation conducted a recon- <br />naissance in 1.944 and included the Narrows Reser- <br />voir in Senate Document No. 191, published in <br />April 1944, which provided the basis f"or authori- <br />zation. Six separate dam sites on the South <br />Platte River were studied. They were designated <br />the Hardin, Goodrich, Weldona, Narrows, Fort Morgan, <br />and Old Fort Morgan (Old Fort Reservoir) sites in <br />d01illstream order. The reconnaissance studies <br />resulted in elimination of" the Hardin, Goodrich, <br />and Old Fort Morgan sites. Further study elimin- <br />ated the Weldona site. -Subsequent dets.i1e<l. investi- <br />gations resulted in selection of" the Narrows site. <br /> <br />z <br />.. <br /> <br />In October 1947 the Bureau of" Reclamation <br />began extensive subsurf"ace investigattons at the <br />Narrows Bite. A boar:! of" consultants concluded <br />in 1948 that a safe dam could be constructed at <br />that site. <br /> <br />Three hWldred thousand dollars was made <br />available in July 1947 for initiation of construc- <br />tion of the Nar>"ows Unit.
