Basin salinity control program <br /> <br />\~ere covered in the CouncU's first annual report, dated July <br /> <br />22, 1976 an-:'l again in the 1jar.cn 1.98'- re,?ort. <br /> <br />Since the last re,?ort was submitted, the Advisory <br /> <br />Council met on October 19, 1982 in San oiego, California. <br /> <br />The permanent Work Groul? of the Colorado River Basin Salinity <br /> <br />Control !forum continues to serve the Council in the capacity <br /> <br />of a technical review and study team. Myron B. Holburt, <br />, <br /> <br />Calif.ornia, is Chairman of the Work Group. <br /> <br />The Advisory Councll, at its October 19, 1982 meeting, <br /> <br />heard r.eports from the federal agencies which are taking <br /> <br />active roJ.es in salinity <::ontrol activities. 'The Council is <br /> <br />still concerned ~1J.th the slot-/ r.ate of i,mplementation of the <br /> <br />Colorado River salinity control activities and recommends <br /> <br />that feoeral agencies e1C!)e~'li.te their efforts. <br /> <br />There was no response to the invitation for public <br /> <br />com~ents on the 1981 standards review as provided in the <br />T;lublic notice in the Federal Register of September 27, 1982. <br /> <br />Proposed LegiSlation <br />The Forum's proposed legislation to amend Public La\~ 93- <br /> <br />320, as found in Attachment C is discussed in this report. <br /> <br />The Council requests the Administration's full support for <br />this legiSlation to assure that the saJ.i.ni ty control objec- <br />tives can be achieved. <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br />,:;< <br />
