COLORADO RIVER BASI~ <br />SALINITY CONTROL PROGRA~ <br /> <br />COLORADO RIVER BASIN SALINITY <br />CONTROL ADVISORY COUNCIL <br />February 1983 <br /> <br />Public Law 93-320, the "Colorado River Basin Salinity <br /> <br />Control Act of J.974" author ized construction, operation and <br /> <br />maintainence of certain works in the Colorado River Basin to <br /> <br />control the saJ.inity of. water aval.lable in the Colorado River <br /> <br />for use in the United States and Mexico. Section 204 of the <br /> <br />Act established a Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Ad- <br />visory Council. A Charter for the Council was approved by <br />the Secretaries of the Interior and Agriculture and the <br />Administrator, Environmental Protection Agency on February 6, <br /> <br />1976 and revised June 22, 1976; June 22, 1978, June 20, 1980 <br /> <br />and August 17, 1982. <br /> <br />This Charter further defines the <br /> <br />activities of the Council. Attachment A is a copy of the <br />Charter. <br /> <br />The Council is com?rised of UP. to three members, <br /> <br />appointed by the Governor, from each of the seven Colorado <br /> <br />River Basin states. <br /> <br />The current membership is shown on <br /> <br />Attachment B. During the 1981-82 Fiscal Year, George <br />Christopulos, ~yoming, served as Council Chairman and David <br />Robbins, Colorado, as Vice Chairman. Most of the members of <br /> <br />the Advisory Council are also members of the Colorado River <br />Basin Salinity Control Forum. The Council and Forum have <br />different, but related, functions. <br />
