Component C entails consolidating and integrating operations and future
expansions at two water treatment plants below Horsetooth Reservoir which
serve areas in and around the City of Fort Collins. Component C also
includes provisions for increasing the diversion and conveyance capacity
from the Cache la Poudre River to one of these water treatment plants which
is owned and operated by the City of Fort Collins. Details concerning the
development and evaluation of Component C are provided in a separate report
documenting supplemental studies which were performed in association with
the Regional Water Supply Study.

Ii
I~
.'
I:
I
I:
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

COllponent 8

Component B includes construction of a pipeline from Carter Lake generally
along U. S. Highway 34 east to the Cities of Fort Morgan and Brush. Five
other water providers could be supplied along the way as well as the Pawnee
Power Plant, which is owned and operated by the Public Service Company of
Colorado.

As for Component A, Component B could provide gravity conveyance for either
raw water or treated water, although raw water conveyance is most likely the
preferred option. If desired, water treatment could be provided at one of
several locations by expanding an existing water treatment plant, construct-
ing new treatment capacity near Carter Lake, or constructing a new water
treatment plant near Fort Morgan.

If fully implemented, preliminary estimates of construction costs for
Component B. including branch pipelines but excluding water treatment, are
on the order of $57 million (1990 dollars).

COllponent C

-16-
