Frequent bre~kdowns hamper efficient maintenance <br />operations. The new maintenance equipment will greatly improve mainte- <br />nance effi ci ency and thus the performance of the Amity Sys tern, <br /> <br />DRA I NAGE <br /> <br />Lands in the Amity Service area are generally well-drained with the <br />~Iater table located belo~1 the root zone. Some areas, however, are <br />nearly level, depressed or gently undulating. Drainageways, in most <br />instances. are well-defined and carried directly under or into the <br />canal. In certain instances. the drainageways are poorly-defined and <br />there are small and large closed basins in ~Ihich storm Ivater accumu- <br />lates. The larger depressional areas are presently classed as nonorable; <br />but, in some cases. ~Ii 11 i nfl uence the i rri gabil ity of surroundi ng 1 ands <br />unless higher lying land irrigation and drainage are properly managed, <br />No drainage problems are anticipated with the project. <br /> <br />WATER QUALITY <br /> <br />Because the project consists of modifications and improvements to the <br />existing system to provide a higher level of efficiency of service to <br />the lands presently irrigated. there will be no change in either sur- <br />face or groundwater quality as a result of the project. <br /> <br />During the construction activities, precautions will be taken to con- <br />trol suspended solids from degrading water courses. <br /> <br />LAND RESTORATION <br /> <br />Land area, disturbed by construction, is not expected to be extensive. <br />Where land is disturbed, it will be graded to stable contours and <br />seeded with natural dryl and grasses. Reasonable efforts ~Ii 11 be taken <br />to minimize the impact of the construction on the environment. <br /> <br />COMPANY INITIAL CONSTRUCTION <br /> <br />The Company and the shareholders plan to do certain portions of the <br />improvements as their contribution to the project.
