Repairing and patching of concrete
will utilize either epoxy grout, pneumatic concrete or cast-in-place
concrete facings, Slight reduction in flow capacity is expected where
major repairs are required within the waterway. The choice of repair
method will be made on a structure~by-structure basis during the final
design phase.

New and replacement structures will be designed in general accordance
with the criteria contained in "Design of Small Canal Structures". a
USBR publication except that new or replaced cross-drain structures
will be sized to protect the canal from up to ten-year frequency storm
flows, Other structures will be sized to provi de the hydraul i c capa-
city of the original structure,

Erosion protection will be either concrete aprons or riprap, Geotech-
nical investigations for final design will include location of possible
riprap sources. General observation of riprap in use indicates it is
of poor durability and that durable work for riprap may not be economi-
cal. requiring concrete apron protection, Determination will be made
during final design,

GREAT PLAINS RESERVOIRS

Description of Improvements

The Great Plains Reservoirs are generally in good condition, The mason-
ry outlet structures for the Nee No She and Nee Skah Reservoirs need
pointing and patching and the gates and hoists need replacement. The
spi.llways for the two reservoirs need re-excavating and the Nee Skah
Reservoir: needs erosion protection on the upstream face. All of the
Great Piains Reservoirs are off-channel storage facilities,

Desiqn

Masonry will be pointed and patched with cement or epoxy grout, Re-
placement gate hoists will be of the same size and type as the originals,
Erosion protection will be designed to withstand expected wave action
with a full reservoir and the spillways will be sized to meet state dam
safety criteria.

GENERAL ITEMS

Buildings

Currently. the Amity has one maintenance building near Lamar and an office
in Holly, Maintenance operations will be improved by an additional buil-
ding near Holly and efficiency improved by insulating the existing building,

4-2
