PSWRO Produces Article on Urban Waterfronts <br /> <br />A staff member of the PSWRO Division of Environmental Services, <br />Don Henry, has recently completed writing a feature article entitled <br />"Urban Waterfronts: Looking Better!'" The article complements the <br />recently published Urban Waterfront Revitalization booklets, but <br />deals with additional coastal, lake and canal-front areas and ex- <br />plores the various funding strategies which have been used for success- <br />fully, including several innovative techniques. Suitable for news- <br />letters, 'newspa~ers, or magazines, the article is being submitted to <br />publishers by both the San Francisco and Washington HCRS Offices. <br />Copies may be obtained by calling 556-2480. <br /> <br />2. HCRSand'the Pacific Gas and Electric Company Cooperate in <br />Recreation Energy Conservation Survey <br /> <br />The Heritage Conservation and Recreation Service and the Pacific Gas <br />and Electric Company in San Francisco have jointly prepared a survey <br />from which is being sent to park and recreation departments throughout <br />California. The survey asks for responses on the types of li.ghting, <br />heating, insulation and other energy saving materials and techniques <br />being used by the departments in their buildings and recreation facili- <br />ties. After the surveys are returned, the two offices will determine <br />what assistance they can offer to enhance energy conservation and <br />reduce costs. PG&E has offered to make its representatives available <br />for consultation with park and recreation staffs. The results of this <br />project wilTbe made available to other HCRS regional offices and <br />recreation departments nationwide. <br /> <br />3. Region responds to Secretary Andrus""request for Stanislaus River <br />Decision Paper in 45 days <br /> <br />In response to the Secretary's Stanislaus decision paper field work <br />and task force meeting were completed on January 11, and the Field <br />Team leader proceeded to Washington for finalizing of the recommen- <br />dation and presentation to the Secretary. <br /> <br />C-55 <br /> <br />en ~I <br />
