<br />3. National.Program of Inspection of Dams. lnspections in the States of <br />. Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah are continuing and are scheduled for <br />completion in September 1981. The State of Arizona will complete 30 <br />inspections in FY 80; 22 inspection. are scheduled in FY 81; a total of 93 <br />inspections will be accomplished in the 4-year program (FY-78/81); nine unsafe <br />dams have been uncovered throu~h August 1980; the dam inventory (384 dams) is <br />completed. The State.of Californi~ has reviewed its program schedule to <br />provide 41 inspections in Fiscal.Year 1980 and a total of 120 complete reports <br />by 30 September 1981. The Governor of California was notified of an unsafe <br />dam on 6 June 1980, and subsequently another unsafe dam has been identified. <br />In Nevada, the Phase 1 inspections scheduled for FY 80 have been comnpleted <br />and the inventory updates completed (185 dams). Utah is continuing the Phase <br />I program with help from A-E fiI'1ll8. An additional 14 dams in Utah have been <br />classified as unsafe since 1 Janua.ry 1980, making a total of 49 unsafe dams to <br />date. Utah w~ll complete the inventory by 30 September 1980, with an <br />additional 164 dams updated this fiscal year. Except for additional updating <br />of the inventory in Fiscal Year 1981 as an outgrowth of LANDSAT, all inventory <br />updating in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah should be complete in Fiscal <br />Year 1980. <br /> <br />ADVANCE. ENGINEERING AND DESIGN PROGRAM. <br /> <br />1. Santa Ana River Project, California. The draft Phase 1 GDM/EIS for this <br />project was submitted to .the South Pacific Division in May 1980. The draft <br />report was subsequently distributed 'for public and agency review in July <br />1980. Four separate final public meetings were held in late August 1980. The <br />final Phase I GDM/EIS is scheduled to be submitted to the South Pacific <br />Division by 30 September 1980. <br /> <br />2. Merced Cpunty Streams, California. The final Phase I GDM was submitted to <br />the Division: Engineer and Phase II studies were initiated in April 1980. In <br />June 1980, a, General Design Conference for the Phase II studies was held <br />between the staff of the Office of the Chief of Engineers, South Pacific <br />Division, and Sacramento District. . <br /> <br />3. Cottonwood Creek, California. The Phase I GDM studies for this <br />multipurpose '::reservoir project .is. continuing. ',.!rhe draft Phase I GDM/EIS is <br />scheduled to be submitted to the Division Engineer in October 1980. <br /> <br />4. San Luis Rey River,.California. The draft Phase I GDM/EIS for this <br />channel improvement project was submitted to the Division Engineer for review <br />in March 1980.
