The decreed capa-

city of the Eastdale Reservoirs No, 1 and 2 are 3,468 A, F. and 3,041

A, F, respectively. The Eastdale Reservoir No.2 is largely inoperative

due to its inabi'ity to hold water. The present usable capacity of

Eastdale No, 2 is about 2,000 A. F. due to the condition of the rip rap

of the dam, A more detailed description of the system and the history

of the development of irrigation along the river appears in the attached

appendix entitled "History of Irrigation from the Costilla River" whioh

was prepared by Mr. Malcolm Lindsey,

The Costilla Reservoir has been operated under a p~rmit

from the State Engineer's office of New Mexico which has been issued

on an annual basis. In order to make the most efficient Use of the

water of the stream, the water company has used the Costilla Reservoir

to store all the water available for stora~e which could be stored in

that reservoir after the direct uses were satisfied, The water

so stored has been used upon all of the lands in the Costilla area

- 6 -
