Opportunities will be provided for in-
dividuals from the public sector to serve on the planning team.

The public will be kept informed through a series of public meetings, news
letters prepared by the planning team leader, and by personal contact with team
members. Among the public meetings that will be held are environmental scoping,
alternative p1an(s), and plan selection. The public will have the opportunity
to review the feasibility' report and draft environnlental statement as discussed
in Chapter V. A tentative schedule of public involvement events is presented
below.

Suggested Schedule of Key Public Involvement Events

Event number

l.
2.

Meeting to organize planning team - - - - - - - -
Meeting to identify possible alternatives and
environmental issues - - - - - - - - -
Meeting to review alternatives and environ-
mental data - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Newsletter #1 Results of alternatives -- - - - -
Meeting to select p1an(s) - - - - - - - - -
Newsletter #2 Results of plan selection - - - - -
Notice of intent to prepare environmental
statement - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Meeting to scope environmental issues - - -
Newsletter #3 Results of scoping issues - -
Newsletter #4 Status of Phase I Contract- -
Newsletter #5 Completion of environmental data
and engineering data gathering- - -
Newsletter #6 Complete Phase II Contract- -
Public Notice of Hearing on EIS -
Public EIS Hearing - - - - -
Commissioner's news release

Approximate date

Fall 1980

Fall 1981

Winter 1981
Winter 1981
Summer 1981
Summer 1981

Summer 1981
Summer 1981
Fall 1981
Winter 1982

Fall 1982
Spring 1983
Spring 1984
Spring 1984
Summer 1985

The public will be involved in the environmental scoping procedures. The team will ana-
lyze the input from the meetings and select those issues deserving study in
the environmental statement..
