<br />< <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />14. <br /> <br />8.3 Undertake a major River restoration pro. <br />ject in the Upper Cenlral platte Valley. <br /> <br />Resources: Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, <br />City and County of Denver and identified state and fed- <br />eral funds. Total cost estimate for Phase I is $3.4 million. <br />Urban Drainage and Flood District could pay $2 million <br />or more. <br /> <br />Time frame: Begin design, planning, and work in 1995, with <br />$2 million available from Urban Drainage and other state and <br />federal resources. <br /> <br />Also in this area, south of Colfax Avenue, is Public <br />Service Company's Zuni Power Plant, one of two <br />remaining boating obstacles on the River. The Denver Housing <br />Authority also has set aside land next to the River for a park <br />for residents in the Sun Valley Homes. <br /> <br />Next Steps: <br />Begin design work <br /> <br />Benefits: Will help control flooding, provide wildlife habitat. <br />and create additional places for people to enjoy along the <br />River.
