As a result,
Reclamation was able to go forward with its data collection program and implement field
exploration.

"Field exploration will help Reclamation determine the exact source of the water," said
Reclamation hydraulic engineer, John Gierard. Earlier today, Reclamation excavated a four foot
diameter hole around the site of the seepage. The excavation appeared to indicate that a
majority of the seepage is coming from the natural rock abutment north of the dam. However,
"additional exploration will be required to confirm this," Gierard explained.

Field exploration will continue through this afternoon and evening. In the meantime, Reclamation
will maintain the current 500 cfs release from Ruedi Reservoir. The releases are expected to
remain the same throughout the week

Daily press releases will also continue for the nCl\.t several days.
