.

.

From:

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation
Eastern Colorado Area Office
Loveland, CO
Kara Lamb, Public Information Coordinator

Contact:

For immediate release: September 1 i, 1998

Reclamation Increases Ruedi Releases

Basalt, co: The Bureau of Reclamation has increased the releases from Ruedi Reservoir. On
Wednesday of this week, releases rose from 250 cfs to 300 cfs.

Releases from Ruedi Reservoir are being increased in conjunction with releases from other water
sources to enhance flows for the endangered species in the 15 Mile Reach ofthe Colorado River.
These type of releases from Ruedi are not uncommon. In fact, the releases of 250 cfs, which
began three weeks ago, were also for the endangered fish.

Additional releases for fish are also being made from Green Mountain Reservoir and Wolford
Mountain Reservoir as demands for fish water have increased. Because natural flows in the
Colorado River are diminishing, releases from Ruedi may be increased to 350 cfs next week.

"We are obligated under the Colorado River Recovery Program to provide for the endangered
species in the Colorado River," said Reclamation Area Manager, Jack Garner.

ttJo
I (pt)

~,r/
OJd- .{ ~~d:/ ecn./~ /-?'o/.

1
