West, The reservoir maximum water surface would be elevation
8,960 and the storage volume 100,000 acre-feet of water, Con-
struction of the reservoir would require relocation of 2,5 miles
of U. S. Highway 24, 2.3 miles of 115 kV electrical transmission
line and 2.4 miles of telephone line. Additionally, 3.7 miles of
new road would be required along the shore line of the new
reservoir for access to Homestake Valley, Costs would be shared
equally by the Cities and the CRWCD. Plan F-1 does not con-
template any use of the Iron Mountain Reservoir by the DWB.

c. A diversion structure on the Eagle River near the southeast
corner of Section 4, Township 7 South, and Range 80 West,
From the diversion structure, a 96 inch gravity pipeline would
extend northwesterly 6,600 feet to the west quarter corner of
Section 4, Township 7 South, Range 80 West to discharge to a
drainage course tributary to Iron Mountain Reservoir. Costs
would be prorated 26 per cent to the Cities and 74 per cent to
the CRWCD. Plan F-1 does not contemplate any DWB use of
these diversion facilities.

d, A 52 mgd pumping station in Homestake Valley, located
immediately downstream of Iron Mountain Dam. This station
would pump from the reservoir and discharge to a tunnel and
pipeline system to be constructed jointly, in part, with the DWB.
The reservoir would permit year.round pumping at a uniform
rate of 37 mgd. Under Plan F.1, the pumping head would
average 500 feet as contrasted with 1,300 feet under Plan D,
1,400 feet under Plan E, and 510 feet under Plan F.

A new electrical transmission line would be required to supply
electric power to the pumping station, This would connect to
the relocated 115 kV transmission line presently paralleling U, S.
Highway 24, The Cities would bear all costs for the pumping
station as CRWCD allocations would be discharged by gravity
from the reservoir to downstream power and/or other uses.

e. A system of tunnels and pipelines extending from the pump-
ing station northeasterly 88,000 feet to discharge into Ten Mile
Creek tributary to the DWB Dillon Reservoir.

18

Commencing at the pumping station in 7-d, a 48 inch pipeline
would extend 5,000 feet to a point in the southwest quarter of
Section 20, Township 6 South, Range 80 West. At this point,'
the pipeli'ne would connect with the proposed Red Cliff Tunnel 0
extending north-northeasterly 12,000 feet to a portal in the t
southwest quarter of Section 15, Township 6 South, Range 80 CO
West. Commencing at this portal, a 48 inch pipeline would
extend 2,000 feet to the upstream portal of the DWB proposed
Turkey Creek Tunnel. Diversions from the DWB proposed
Roberts Tunnel Collection System including Turkey, Wearyman,
and Lime Creeks would be delivered to the Turkey Creek Tunnel
at this point,

I
II
I
I'
I
I

Turkey Creek Tunnel would extend northeasterly 32,000 feet to
a point in the northwest quarter of Section 28, Township 5
South, Range 79 West, and at the point would join the DWB
proposed Vail Pass Tunnel. Additional DWB diversions from the
Roberts Tunnel Collection System would be delivered to the Vail
Pass Tunnel at this point by the connecting Gore Creek Tunnel.

I
I

From the juncture of the Turkey Creek and Gore Creek Tunnels,
the Vail Pass Tunnel would extend easterly 37,000 feet to its
outlet portal on Ten Mile Creek near the east quarter corner of
Section 33, Township 5 South, Range 78 West. From this portal,
all waters would flow in Ten Mile Creek to Dillon Reservoir.

I
I

Under Plan F-1, the Cities would bear the entire cost of 7,000
feet of 48 inch pipeline and the Red Cliff Tunnel; also, a larger
proportion of the cost for Turkey Creek and Vail Pass Tunnels
than under Plan F. DWB's use of the latter two tunnels would
be reduced appreciably under Plan F as its Eagle River diversions
would not be transferred by this route. This plan also would be
contingent upon development by the DWB of the Gore Creek
Tunnel System as part of the Roberts Tunnel Collection System.

I
I

8. Plan F-2 - Tunnels, Pipelines, Reservoir, and Pumping

I
I

Plan F-2 is similar to Plans F and F-1 except the joint under-
