..

I
I
I

takil'1g would be exclusively between the Cities and the CRWCD
and'the Cities' water production would be pumped to Homestake
Re.servoir instead of Dillon Reservoir, Plan F-2 includes:

a. ' A tunnel from Homestake Valley, beginning near the center
of Section 30, Township 6 South, Range 80 West, extending
northwesterly 24,000 feet, passing beneath Fall Creek and Peter-
son Creek and terminating below Cross Creek Valley at elevation
9,050, Riser shafts and diversion facilities would be provided at
Fall, Cross, and Peterson Creeks. The diversion point on Cross
Creek would be downstream of the mouths of West and East
Cross Creeks and would permit all diversion from Cross Creek to
be made at one location. The Cities would bear the entire tunnel
cost from Cross Creek to Fall Creek, From Fall Creek to Iron
Mountain Reservoir, the CRWCD would share part of the cost as
it would divert water from Fall and Peterson Creeks, The total
tunnel cost would be prorated approximately 87 per cent to the
Cities and 13 per cent to the CRWCD.

I
I
I

I

I

b. Iron Mountain Reservoir on Homestake Creek with a dam
near the center of Section 30, Township 6 South, Range 80
West.

I
I

The reservoir maximum water surface would be elevation 8,960
and the storage volume 100,000 acre.feet of water. Construction
of the reservoir would require relocation of 2.5 miles of U. S,
Highway 24, 2.3 miles of 115 kV electrical transmission line and
2.4 miles of telephone line. Additionally, 3.7 miles of new road
would be required along the shore line of the new reservoir for
access to Homestake Valley, Costs would be shared equally by
'~the Cities and the CRWCD,
~

~c, A diversion structure on the Eagle River near the southeast
corner of Section 4, Township 7 South, and Range 80 West.
From the diversion structure, a 96 inch gravity pipeline would
extend northwesterl y 6,600 feet to the west quarter corner of
Section 4, Township 7 South, Range 80 West to discharge to a
drainage course tributary to Iron Mountain Reservoir. Costs
would be prorated 26 per cent to the Cities and 74 per cent to

I
I

I
I

the CRWCD.

d. A 42 mgd pumping station in Homestake Valley constructed
immediately downstream from Iron Mountain Dam to pump
water from Iron Mountain Reservoir to Homestake Reservoir
through the 42 inch pipeline under 8.e,

The pumping head would average 1,550 feet compared with
1,400 feet under Plan E as the station is located farther down
the valley. Because of storage in Iron Mountain Reservoir, a
year-round uniform pumping rate of 37 mgd could be achieved
as contrasted with pumping at stream flow rates varying upward
to 300 mgd under Plan D. All costs would be borne by the
Cities for exclusive use.

e. A 42 inch pipeline beginning at the pumping station, extend-
ing 49,000 feet southwesterly up Homestake Valley, thence
northwesterly 4,500 feet to a connection with the northern
terminus of the existing Fancy-French conduit, and then dis-
charging into Homestake Reservoir through the existing Missouri
Tunnel. Even though the pipeline will carry waters from the
Eagle-Arkansas Division in addition to Homestake diversions, the
pipeline would be 42 inches, compared with 78 inches under
Plan D, because of the uniform pumping rate under Plan F,2.
All costs for the pipeline would be borne by the Cities for
exclusive use.

9. Plan G - Wolcott Reservoir. Tunnel,and Pumping

Plan G is based upon a combination of pumping, storage reser-
voir, and tunnels in a joint undertaking between the Cities and
the DWB and includes:

a. A 780 mgd pumping station on the Eagle River near
Wolcott, in Section 10, Township 4 South, Range 83 West. This
would divert all waters from the Colorado River tributaries allo-
cated to the Cities under the Homestake decree, including waters
from the Eagle-Arkansas Division, The pumping station would

19
