1
1
I.

wou Id pump from the reservoir and discharge to a tunnel and
pipeline system to be constructed jointly with the DWB. As in
PIa<1 E, the reservoir would permit year-round pumping at a
unIform pumping rate of 74 mgd. Under Plan F, the pumping
head would average 510 feet as contrasted with 1,300 feet under
Plan D and 1,400 feet under Plan E,

I
I
I
I

A new electrical transmission line approximately 0.4 miles long
would be required to supply electric power to the pumping
station. This would connect to the relocated 115 kV transmission
line presently paralleling U_ S, Highway 24.

Costs for the pumping station would be divided equally between
the Cities and DWB.

e, A system of tunnels and pipelines extending from the pump-
ing station northeasterly B8,000 feet to discharge into Ten Mile
Creek tributary to the DWB Dillon Reservoir. A part of the
tunnel and pipeline system would also serve the DWB Eagle-Piney
and Roberts Tunnel Collection Systems.

I
I
I

Commencing at the pumping station in 6-d, a 60 inch pipeline
would extend 5.000 feet to a point in the southwest quarter of
Section 20, Township 6 South, Range 80 West. At this point,
the pipeline would connect with the proposed Red Cliff Tunnel
extending north-northeasterly 12,000 feet to a portal in the
southwest quarter of Section 15, Township 6 South, Range 80
West, Commencing at this portal, a 60 inch pipeline would
extend 2,000 feet to the upstream portal of the DWB proposed
Turkey Creek Tunnel. Water diversions from the DWB proposed
Roberts Tunnel Collection System including Turkey, Wearyman
!''''llnd Lime Creeks would be delivered to the Turkey Creek Tunnel
~t this point.
o
Turkey Creek Tunnel would extend northeasterly 32,000 feet to
a point in the northwest quarter of Section 28, Township 5
South, Range 79 West, and at this point would join the DWB
proposed Vail Pass Tunnel. Additional DWB diversions from the
Roberts Tunnel Collection System would be delivered to the Vail

I
I

1
I

Pass Tunnel at this point by the connecting Gore Creek Tunnel.

From th!,! juncture of the Turkey Creek and Gore Creek Tunnels,
the Vail Pass Tunnel would extend easterly 37,000 feet to its
outlet portal on Ten Mile Creek near the east quarter corner of
Section 33, Township 5 South, Range 78 West. From this portal,
all waters would flow in Ten Mile Creek to Dillon Reservoir.

All costs for this tunnel and pipeline system would be prorated
to the Cities and the DWB on the basis of water allocations
tributary to the various portions of the system.

7. Plan F-1 - Tunl1els, Pipelines, Reservoir, and Pumping

Plan F-1 is similar to Plan F, except a joint undertaking would
be required between the Cities and the CRWCD for Cross Creek
Tunnel and Iron Mountain Reservoir, Also a joint undertaking
would be required between the Cities and the DWB for Turkey
Creek and Vail Pass Tunnels. No direct relationship would exist
between the CRWCD and DWB. Plan F-1 includes:

v

o

,
I

a. A tunnel from Homestake Valley, beginning near the center
of Section 30, Township 6 South, Range 80 West, extending
northwesterly 24,000 feet, passing beneath Fall Creek and Peter-
son Creek and terminating below Cross Creek Valley at elevation
9,050. Riser shafts and diversion facilities would be provided at
Fall, Cross, and Peterson Creeks. The diversion point on Cross
Creek would be downstream of the mouths of West and East
Cross Creeks and would permit all diversion from Cross Creek to
be made at one location. The Cities would bear the entire tunnel
cost from Cross Creek to Fall Creek. From Fall Creek to Iron
Mountain Reservoir, the CRWCD would share part of the cost as
it would divert water from Fall and Peterson Creeks. The total
tunnel cost would be prorated approximately 87 per cent to the
Cities and 13 per cent to the CRWCD.

/,

r

t,
;1
tl
~

b.
