<br />The NRCS will assist the SCDs with t~e educational component of the technical <br />002456 ... <br />assistance. <br /> <br />~, .to ~:~,., '.~. <br /> <br />The NRCS will also provide the technical assistance to plan and design practices <br /> <br />through the SCDs. Costs associated with installation of practices will be borne in part <br /> <br />by the NRCS. NRCS funds for technical and financial assistance will be contingent <br /> <br />upon and obtained from an appropriation from the Watershed Protection and Flood <br /> <br />Prevention Act (PL-566). Figure E displays the planned sequence of obligating funds <br /> <br />forthe project and the installation schedule. <br /> <br />Resoonsibilities <br /> <br />The West Otero Soil Conservation District, the East Otero Soil Conservation District, <br /> <br />and the Colorado State Soil Conservation Board are the sponsors for the small <br /> <br />watershed program (PL83-566) Land Treatment Watershed. The SCDs will coordinate <br /> <br />activities. <br /> <br />During the first years of the project the educational component of the "Technical <br /> <br /> <br />Assistance" will be implemented. Workshops are the chosen method of <br /> <br />implementation. These workshops will present resource management concepts, <br /> <br />methods, and technologies. <br /> <br />Cooperators will be strongly encouraged to participate in a workshop as a prerequisite <br /> <br />for receiving PL-566 cost-share funds. NRCS will certify landowner or entity <br /> <br />participation. <br /> <br />~ <br />
