LOCATION.--Lat 40°20'45", long 105°26'30", NW¼ sec. 3, T.5 N., R.71 W., Larimer County, 400 ft upstream
from mouth at Drake, Co. on U. S. Highway 34 to Estes Park, Co.

DRAINAGE AREA AND PERIOD OF RECORD.--85.1 mi²; 1947 to present.

GAGE.--Graphic water-stage recorder and DCP in a 42-inch well. The electric drop tape is the primary
reference with a supplemental outside wire weight as backup. An outside wire weight staff was added
on April 26, 2002.

REMARKS.--The primary record is hourly satellite data with chart backup. The record is complete and
reliable except for the following periods: December 9, 2002 through March 26, 2003 when the station
was closed for winter. May 28; June 10-12—when inlets were totally plugged. Ponds in the channel
upstream often ice up and break loose in the fall and cause bumps in the record when there is no ice
at the control. The record is good, except for following periods: These periods were estimated and
rated Poor: December 9, 2002 through March 26, 2003 when the station was closed for winter. May
28; June 10-12—when inlets were totally plugged. This period is rated Fair: May 18-27, when the
inlets were only partially plugged. Station maintained and record developed by Merlin Friedrichsen.
