PLATTE RIVER BASIN

06707501 SOUTH PLATTE RIVER BELOW STRONTIA SPRINGS RESERVOIR, CO

LOCATION.--Lat 39°26'00", long 105°07'30", SW¼SW¼ sec. 16, T.7 S., R.69 W., Douglas County, on right bank
1/4 mi downstream from Strontia Springs Dam.

DRAINAGE AREA.--N/A

GAGE.--A Stevens A-70 graphic water stage recorder, satellite monitoring data collection platform with
digital shaft encoder installed in a formed concrete shelter. An adjustable reference point with a
graduated tape on the float drive for the recorder is used for referencing. An adjustable reference
for a drop tape is located below the well manhole. An outside staff gage is used as an additional
reference. A new encoder was installed in 2003 that reads to 3 decimal places and allows for
tighter calibration.

REMARKS.--Record is complete and reliable; no ice conditions were experienced this year. Only a few bad
data points showed up in the max/min prints. The new encoder maintained calibration so that no
corrections were necessary to the record. The record is good. Station was maintained and record
developed by Jana Ash and R. E. Cooper.

RATING TABLE.--PLASTRCO02 USED FROM 01-OCT-2002 TO 30-SEP-2003

DISCHARGE, IN CFS, WATER YEAR OCTOBER 2002 TO SEPTEMBER 2003
MEAN VALUES

DAY OCT NOV DEC JAN FEB MAR APR MAY JUN JUL AUG SEP

1 74 52 28 33 38 40 33 195 466 121 78 382
2 74 26 28 33 39 40 34 178 554 139 61 255
3 72 27 28 33 39 40 83 163 460 104 60 202
4 71 28 28 33 39 40 129 163 344 78 91 350
5 71 27 28 33 39 39 129 141 264 64 112 440
6 72 27 28 32 38 39 128 127 256 64 111 474
7 73 28 27 32 38 39 85 126 256 88 87 382
8 72 29 27 32 37 39 42 127 254 113 60 324
9 72 30 26 32 38 40 32 126 202 110 61 326
10 68 30 27 32 38 40 191 125 152 106 61 326
11 66 30 27 31 38 40 213 125 147 81 61 302
12 67 29 26 31 38 37 200 70 111 63 61 273
13 67 29 26 31 38 34 157 34 65 61 62 267
14 67 30 26 31 38 33 189 35 66 60 62 268
15 67 30 26 31 39 32 241 54 66 60 63 268
16 67 29 26 31 38 32 249 65 210 60 63 247
17 67 29 26 31 38 32 245 66 259 93 63 239
18 67 28 26 31 38 30 221 66 234 137 63 245
19 67 28 28 31 38 33 204 66 250 169 63 250
20 67 28 30 31 38 35 197 66 332 185 64 227
21 67 28 32 31 38 35 207 177 259 182 64 226
22 67 28 33 31 38 35 224 220 223 181 64 212
23 67 29 33 31 39 35 223 134 196 156 64 187
24 67 29 33 31 38 34 209 117 194 118 65 142
25 67 29 33 31 39 33 178 188 206 106 129 102
26 67 28 33 31 40 33 162 231 210 107 157 133
27 67 28 33 32 40 33 239 280 209 107 154 145
28 67 28 33 32 40 33 271 247 208 182 176 155
29 66 28 33 31 --- 33 205 297 209 233 145 152
30 65 28 33 60 --- 33 199 360 110 197 132 122
31 64 --- 33 48 --- 33 --- 365 --- 124 308 ---

TOTAL 2119 877 904 1024 1076 1104 5119 4734 6972 3649 2865 7623
MEAN 68 29 29 33 38 36 171 153 232 118 92 254
AC-FT 4200 1740 1790 2030 2130 2190 10150 9390 13830 7240 5680 15120
MAX 74 52 33 60 40 40 271 365 554 233 308 474
MIN 64 26 26 31 37 30 32 34 65 60 60 102

WTR YR 2003 TOTAL 38066 MEAN 104 MAX 554 MIN 26 AC-FT 75500

MAX DISCH: 600 CFS AT 12:15 ON Jun. 2, 2003 GH 4.69 FT.
