PLATTE RIVER BASIN

06706000 NORTH FORK SOUTH PLATTE RIVER BELOW GENEVA CREEK, AT GRANT, CO

LOCATION.--Lat 39°27'26", long 105°39'29" in NW¼ sec. 10, T.7 S., R.74 W., Park County, Hydrologic Unit
10190002, on left bank at Grant, 1,550 ft downstream from Geneva Creek, and 1.3 mi downstream from
east portal of Harold D. Roberts tunnel.

DRAINAGE AREA AND PERIOD OF RECORD.--127 mi²; 1948 to present.

GAGE.--A graphic water stage recorder and satellite monitoring equipment in a wooden shelter over a
concrete well at a concrete trapezoidal channel section and spillway. The gage has power and is
equipped with heat lamps and tapes to prevent freezing of the stilling well and intakes. The
station is owned and maintained by the Denver Water Department. The satellite equipment is owned by
USCOE and maintained by the USGS.

REMARKS.--The primary record is hourly data taken from satellite monitoring with chart back up. It is
complete. The shaft encoder was accurate to ± 0.02 ft. The record is reliable, except for March 20
to April 9 when some hours of some days showed ice peaks. The ice peaks were deleted from the
record. Rapid changes in stage are caused by the regulation of Roberts Tunnel, ½ mile upstream.
When Roberts tunnel is operating, the gage is free from ice. The record is good, except for March
20 to April 9 which is fair. Record developed by Michael Garner.

RATING TABLE.--PLAGRACO12 USED FROM 27-MAY-2003 TO 25-AUG-2003

DISCHARGE, IN CFS, WATER YEAR OCTOBER 2002 TO SEPTEMBER 2003
MEAN VALUES

DAY OCT NOV DEC JAN FEB MAR APR MAY JUN JUL AUG SEP

1 75 102 154 136 141 143 17 41 415 165 189 233
2 49 145 149 135 143 143 17 41 336 156 245 314
3 32 163 147 137 147 143 17 41 313 152 300 367
4 28 163 147 140 147 143 17 43 289 229 296 430
5 28 163 147 140 147 143 17 40 296 294 281 320
6 28 163 147 140 147 143 17 49 254 294 301 183
7 39 163 147 140 147 143 17 76 249 287 323 127
8 67 149 147 140 147 143 17 88 219 240 320 79
9 80 140 147 140 144 143 18 112 211 220 283 86
10 79 138 144 140 143 142 63 143 227 215 244 77
11 79 137 141 142 143 144 101 141 240 269 239 70
12 81 134 142 143 143 145 28 91 241 312 240 67
13 80 139 143 142 143 128 87 53 249 266 237 68
14 81 139 143 144 143 117 53 58 244 243 231 67
15 79 137 143 147 143 116 34 71 237 278 228 64
16 78 136 143 147 143 114 30 79 233 302 229 62
17 78 137 143 147 142 113 31 113 276 385 242 59
18 78 136 143 147 145 67 69 131 334 418 266 58
19 78 136 142 147 142 26 106 135 305 388 282 57
20 78 136 140 147 143 24 34 132 233 346 273 57
21 78 136 140 146 143 20 36 133 224 359 275 55
22 78 143 140 147 143 20 38 243 214 423 301 54
23 83 153 140 147 143 20 35 312 210 432 323 53
24 81 154 137 147 143 20 32 266 207 241 327 52
25 81 154 134 147 143 19 39 278 194 426 334 50
26 81 152 133 126 143 19 47 281 236 360 358 48
27 84 152 133 110 143 19 46 319 322 325 368 48
28 83 149 135 110 143 18 44 363 371 317 367 47
29 83 154 136 110 --- 17 46 383 374 301 318 89
30 79 154 136 110 --- 17 44 396 280 256 333 216
31 84 --- 138 125 --- 17 --- 425 --- 180 237 ---

TOTAL 2190 4357 4401 4266 4027 2629 1197 5077 8033 9079 8790 3557
MEAN 71 145 142 138 144 85 40 164 268 293 284 119
AC-FT 4340 8640 8730 8460 7990 5210 2370 10070 15930 18010 17430 7060
MAX 84 163 154 147 147 145 106 425 415 432 368 430
MIN 28 102 133 110 141 17 17 40 194 152 189 47

WTR YR 2003 TOTAL 57603 MEAN 158 MAX 432 MIN 17 AC-FT 114300

MAX DISCH: 490 CFS AT 21:15 ON May. 31, 2003 GH 1.69 FT.
