Discussed the history of the well and timeline of recent
events
c. Discussed abandonment and variance details
d. Chris Jones responded that, if he had seen the images
provided in the board packet earlier, he would have
considered them similar to "drill cuttings" and have been
more flexible with the abandonment
e. Chris Jones responded that, in the case of a collapsed
well, Staff would generally grant variances to only
abandon that portion above the collapse, rather than
approve further efforts to get below the collapse, such as
what this variance request entails
i. Mr. Harvey stated that an attempt was made to
drill approximately 3 feet below the collapsed
section to get to static water level, but that
current variance reflects abandonment only of the
available section
3. Chris Sanchez confirmed that well is currently filled to
approximately 8 feet bgs but not permanently capped
4. Chris Jones asked Joel Hellwege to comment on the composition
of the fill, as Mr. Hellwege constructed the replacement well
a.
