RIO GRANDE BASIN <br /> 1 <br /> Basinwide Conditions Assessment: <br /> The SWSI value of+2.4 indicates that for January R I O GRANDE BASIN <br /> Surface dater Supply Index History <br /> the basin water supplies were above normal. The Soil 3 <br /> Conservation Service reports January 31 snowpack at 128% <br /> of normal. Storage in Platoro,Rio Grande,and Santa Maria <br /> reservoirs totaled 95% of normal on January 31. The 3 <br /> weather for January in the San Luis Valley was very <br /> 2 <br /> tolerable. The average maximum temperature for the <br /> month was 29.2°F,while the average low temperature was 5.4°F. Ten out of the 31 days of January, the high 2 <br /> temperature for the month was 32°F or above. The high <br /> temperature for the month was 42°F on the 4th. The a ii, <br /> 2weather station at Alamosa received .25 inches of <br /> precipitation in the form of 3 inches of snow during the <br /> month. The average snow depth for Alamosa for the month JAN94 JANBB JANeB `'AN90 JAN92 <br /> JAN95 JAN97 JAN09 JAN91 JAN93 <br /> was 5.74 inches. YEAR/MONTH <br /> Outlook • <br /> As of the end of January, the snowpack in the <br /> mountains surrounding the San Luis Valley is 115% of P I O GRANDE NR. The snowpack in the San Juan <br /> Mountains to the west is 111% of normal while the ;0 <br /> snowpack in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the east is 10 <br /> 150 <br /> 113%of normal.
