Dept o; (%,3 !a9 ResO_­rOes <br /> Re: Permit Application Questions <br /> Your File #77-493� <br /> Dear Mr. Heifner: <br /> Pursuant to the completion of your review of the Mining <br /> Application, the following explanatory information is to be <br /> added to the above referenced matter. <br /> Presently, Open Pit waste rock is mined and hauled to <br /> one of three waste rock dumps, depending upon closeness and <br /> availability. During reclamation of the Robinson Tailing <br /> Pond, some of the waste rock will be hauled and placed over <br /> the tailing for stabilization and revegetation purposes. A <br /> small percentage of the waste rock is sedimentary in origin <br /> and its composition more favorable, but not necessary, to <br /> the reclamation effort. The sediments are located in a <br /> small area of the Open Pit to the west of the Mosquito <br /> Fault. In the normal course of the mining operation, the <br /> sediments will be intermittently mined and hauled to dis- <br /> posal sites and/or Robinson Tailing Pond over a time period <br /> extending to 1998. Within limits imposed by the mining <br /> plan, economics, and the timetable for reclaiming Robinson <br /> Tailing Pond, the sediments will be hauled directly to <br /> Robinson Tailing Pond as may be necessary to top dress the <br /> surface of the rock covered tailing. <br /> A feasibility study has been initiated to investigate <br /> the possibility for stockpiling the sediments and subse- <br /> quently moving the material from the stockpile to the <br /> Mayflower and Tenmile Tailing Ponds as may be needed during <br />
