Case No. 94 CV 5459, DMG Permit No. M-77-378.
Pursuant to CDPHE WQCD request, submitted 9/18/97, DMG conducted final inspections
of the Gold Prince Mill Tailings MRP.
Inspection Dates: 9/22/97 and 10/3/97

Observations: Snow fall persisted throughout the 9/22/97 inspection, site was obscured
by 5" depth snow cover. DMG inspector and Larry Perino conducted second inspection
on 10/3/97. During the 10/3/97 inspection, conditions were muddy, snow cover was
approximately 1 " depth and intermittent.
Mill tailings and mine waste rock had been removed from drainage channels. Limestone
had been incorporated into soils where mill tailings and waste rock had been removed.
Affected areas were regraded to restore natural drainage patterns.
Operator stated that mill tailings had been mixed with high pH material and relocated to a
disposal cell. Disposal cell had been excavated from areas previously disturbed by waste
rock stockpile and located clear from drainage channels. Operator indicated that the
disposal cell contained approximately 1 ,000 cy of tailings and high pH materials.
Relocated materials were encapsulated with geotextile and PVC 40 mil liner material.
Disposal cell was covered by waste rock material, surface was contoured to stable
configuration which blended with natural slopes and maintained historic flavor. Upland
drainage was routed around disposal cell area.
