The purpose of the well is to define the water table in the
Bulldog tunnel behind the hydraulic plug. The proposed well will be located on the existing road
to the 9700 Portal (UTM 13 S 329277 4192299).
The proposed location for the temporary monitoring well is in the SW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of
Section 25, T42N, R1W, NMPM, Mineral County, and within "Permit Area A" as specified in
Exhibit A of Permit No. M- 1977 -215. The proposed collar location is on the intersection of
the Bulldog tunnel and the existing road to the 9700 Portal and is situated on the Black Chief
patented mining claim (MS No. 8339) owned by Donald Rounds. Permission has been granted
from Mr. Rounds to drill the temporary monitoring well.
Rio Grande Silver proposes to drill a temporary monitoring well into the existing Bulldog adit
approximately 1085 feet back from the portal, and approximately 935 feet behind the concrete
adit plug that was put in place in 1997. The purpose of the monitoring well is to define the
water table behind the plug for future engineering and planning of a new portal and drift
adjacent to and north of the existing 9360 tunnel.
The well will be drilled by a licensed Colorado water well drilling company. The anticipated
depth of the well is approximately 240 feet. The well will be cased 20 to 40 feet and grouted at
the surface. The finished well will be cased with 6 inch steel pipe, perforated 10 feet up from
the bottom, and set on the floor of the drift to allow accurate water table and water quality
measurements.
112 East 12 Street P.O.
