MWCA requests additional
time to prepare the Exhibit F Reclamation Map in order to provide a more
comprehensive technical revision. MWCA requests an extension of the technical
review period through February 28, 2011.
The following respond to the items in the referenced DRMS letter:
1 - Concrete pad and bin walls - this structure still exists, including the walls that
form the separate product bins. It is anticipated this structure will be used to load
out the stockpiles of fines, assuming the fines can be sold. The pad and walls
will be broken by mechanical means into 2 Foot Diameter or less pieces and
buried nearby at a depth of approximately 4 Feet.
2 - If the site is sold with the fines piles intact, the pad and walls will remain in
place since the pad and walls are considered an asset which could facilitate the
removal of the fines piles by a potential purchaser.
3 - After the concrete pad is broken, onsite material will be used to cap the area
and revegetate the footprint of the pad. The pad and walls will be broken by
mechanical means into 2 Foot Diameter or less pieces and buried nearby at a
depth of approximately 4 Feet.
4 - The overhead electric power lines and poles which extend into the site are
the property of San Luis Valley Electric Cooperative. The electrical power
infrastructure is considered an asset and MWCA does not intend to request its
removal.
