Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division) has reviewed Trapper Mining
Inc.'s responses to the adequacy item which the Division identified under a cover letter dated March 3,
2009. The Division received Trapper Mining Inc.'s response to our March 3, 2009 letter on March 31,
2009. This response letter will also include the adequacy comments provided to Trapper Mining Inc.
by the Division in a letter dated April 2, 2009 in addition to further adequacy comments identified by
the Division. The Division's responses to Trapper Mining Inc.'s comments concerning adequacy items
identified by the Division are below.
March 3, 2009 Preliminary Adequacy Comment
1. Division's initial comment: Based on a preliminary review of Trapper Mine's PR-6, the
Division has determined that the proposed post-mining topographies of the proposed Kimber
Pit and the proposed Horse Gulch Fill do not adequately approximate the pre-mining contours
of the proposed disturbed area.
Please provide revised maps and cross sections to reflect post-mining topographies that more
closely resemble the pre-mining contours of the proposed disturbed area. These cross sections
and post-mining topographies are reflected in Trapper's proposed Maps M12, M14A, and
Appendix T.
Trapper Response: The post-mining configuration for the Horse Gulch Fill has been modified
to eliminate the saddle that was shown previously. The fill now ties in to the adjacent
topography with no saddle. A more complete description of the mining method used in K Pit is
included as a part of Section 3.1.4.1, Mining Sequence, pages 3-15a and 3-15b. A discussion
of safety requirements and resource recovery is included. Permit section 3.5, Backfilling and
Grading, pages 3-39, 3-39a and 3-39b have been modified to include a discussion of post
mining topography as it relates to K Pit and the Horse Gulch Fill.
