BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES, INC.
May 8, 2003
Mr. Jim Dillie /
State of Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Battle Mountain Resources Inc. /
San Luis Project
CMLRB Permit No. M-88-112
April 2003 Monthly Report .-~'
Dear Mr. Dillie:
RECEIVED /
MAY 1 2 2003 /
Division ~f Minerals and Geology
The following summarizes monitoring and site activities at the Battle Mountain
Resources Inc., San Luis Project for the month of April 2003.
Surface and ground water monitoring and analysis were completed for all required sites
during the month. All surface water stations were inspected and recorded daily (i.e.,
regulazly scheduled work days) as per the permit terms and conditions. Inspection dates
were 4/01-04, 4/07-11, 04/14-]7, 04/21-24, and 04/28-30 as represented by the attached
field log report copies. These inspections and recordings identified readings at RS-1, RS-
2, RS-3 and RS-5 as zero (0) inches; and RS-4 and RS-6 as dry. The monthly
precipitation accumulation For April was 0.95 inches, with the largest accumulation (i.e.,
0.52") occurring on April 20u.
Vacuum on the tailing lysimeters was verified on April 30`h, no water was present for
sampling and subsequent analysis as represented on the attached field log report copies.
Depths to water were collected for the tailing impoundment main embankment and West
Pit piezometers/monitoring wells on April 30`h as represented on the attached field log
report copies. The April 30a' tailing impoundment piezometer measurements identified
these installations were either dry or contained less than 12 inches of water as illustrated
in Table 2. Tables 1 and Z below identify the depth to water measurements collected for
each of the site monitoring wells, piezometers and lysimeters.
The tailing impoundment collection pond underdrain flow was pumped intermittently
during the month to minimize the collection pond level. The leak detection system was
measured on April 30a'. The April collection pond underdrain flow average was 47.49
gpm and a total of 390 gallons of water was excavated from the leak detection
P.O.
