DPpr. Oi ~~..~.... ..~ .~,.~_..:FS <br />The 1980 reclaimation efforts were located on Zinc Hill. <br />It consist of approximately 2.5 acres being seeded to a <br />grass mixture. Two of these acres also being reforested with <br />810 seedlings of variable species. <br />The reclai.mation area is along the top edge of the mine <br />cut. This area was divided into five sections for planting. <br />Please consult the corresponding map for the boundaries and <br />location of each section. <br />The following seed mixture was broadcast throughout the <br />entire 2.5 reclaimation area. <br />Yellow Sweet Clover 25~ <br />Crownvetch 2~ <br />Pubescent wheatgrass 19~ <br />Standard Crested wheatgrass 20~ <br />Western wheatgrass 1']~, <br />Sideoats Grama 'Vaughn' !°~ <br />Indian ricegrass <br />Sand Dropseed 5~ <br />Inert ingredients 6~ <br />Sections 1,3, and 4 were broadcast June 20, Nitro-Carbo- <br />Nitrate and Phosphorous was broadcast immediately after <br />seeding. <br />Sections 2 and 5 were broadcast seeded September 10. <br />No fertilizer was used at that time. Fertilizer application <br />should be made in the spi-ing:of'1981. <br />SITE PREPARATION <br />Prior to planting the reclaimation area was dozed to a <br />contour having several rills and rdepres'sions to increase <br />water retention. <br />On-sebtions 3 &-4', an application o£ the overburden waste <br />material was spread for a planting medium. All other sections <br />were left with the original surface soil. <br />On section 5 and some other extremely rocky areas a <br />milcture~bf•:compost::arid~;ove'rburden was used for bedding. <br />1 <br />
