Dept. of natural Resource=
INTRODUCTION: Annual reports for each of these operations follows. Specific details
are provided in each report with regard to each of the items required in an annual
report. In the process of preparing these reports, several problems were identified,
some of which are highly confusing. These problems will be discussed here and a method
for correction proposed.
According to the Board minutes of December 16, 1974, the Board approved the original
permit for 160 acres and set a bond of 5120,000.OO.Subsequent documents, including the
Open Mining Permit signed by Harris Sherman described only 40 acres. This acreage
figure was apparently in error.
The 1974 permit contained a colored map f V ~ I ~ ~ ~' ~ y~~a Y[1Tl~t~ ugh 1990
'
~
and included 480 acres. The company therefore did not have a reference document to monitor
their operation with respect to the permit boundaries. They did have a copy of the 1974
application and maps and apparently followed those documents.
