JfAPPROVED HYDROLOGICAL MONITORING PROGRAM S/~- Table 2.04.7-1 sumrrrarizes various approved monitoring sites. They are shown on Map 2.04.7-1. For New Horizon 1 Mine, these sites incude those approved under the permit previously held by Peabody Coal and later revised by Western Fuels-Colorado. For New Horizon 2 Mine, the sites are based upon recommendations made by Greystone Consultants and subsequent revisions requested by WFC. Attachment 2.04.7-1 includes Greystone's report. The monitoring plan will be adequate for the Garvey and Burbridge lease included in the permit boundary. Map 2.04.7-1 shows the locations of surface stations and wells for the New Horizon Mine 2 monitoring program. Modifications to the existing monitoring locations for surface and groundwater are discussed below. All data will be reported in the annual hydrology report. ,.~ Surface Water Monitoring -New Horizon 2 Mine The total number of surface water sampling locations is five. Calamity Draw contains three stations while the remaining two stations are located on the West Lateral Ditch. Stations SW-N102 is located on a tributary of Calamity draw and v~ill remain as a monitoring point for water leaving Pond 007. This will also act as the NPDES 007 discharge monitoring point for Pond 007. The two stations, Sl/V-N108 and S1/V-N109 are also located on Calamity Draw. The upstream station, Sl/~FN108 is located just west of Lincoln Street as it flows from under the road. This station will define water quality and quantity before it enters the area potentially influenced by the mine. SW-N109 is located on Calamity Draw west of the mine permit boundary but east of the Nucla waste water lagoons. This station will define the water quality and quantity as it leaves the site but before it is influenced by the waste water lagoons. Station SV~N101 was dropped from the monitoring program in the Calamity draw as Stations SI/V-108 and SW-109 replaced its functions. Surface stations Sl/~N104 and SV~fN105 monitor the West Lateral Ditch. These two stations monitor flow and water quality of the ditch system as it enters the upstream area of the mine and (Re1~~ 4-~`~7) 2.04.7-36 ~)
