MANAGEMENT
January 12, 2006
Mr. J. J. Dudash RECEIVE®
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 dAN ~ ~ 2008
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Bowie No. 2 Mine, Bowie Resources LLC piviaron of Minerals and GeoloBY
2004 Annual Report
Adequacy Response
Permit No. C-96-083
Dear Mr. Dudash:
The DMG's letter dated December 15, 2005 transmitted its adequacy comments regarding
the 2004 Annual Report. Following are Bowie's responses to the DMG's comments and
concerns:
2004 Annual Hydrology Report (AHR)
...in Table 1 on page T1-3 of the AHR, it is stated that monitoring for List 1
constituents at both Fire Mountain Canal sites will be conducted in the second
and fourth quarters. Please revise these two entries in Table 1 of future AHRs
to read second and third quarters. Also, the Division notes that the actual
sampling of the Fire Mountain Canal for the List 1 parameters was done on
August 27, 2004, not in September.
BRL -Page T1-3 of Table 1 has been revised for future AHRs to indicate
monitoring for List 1 to be second and third quarters. The Fire Mountain Canal
for the List 1 parameters was conducted on August 27, 2004, because the
Canal Company indicated they would shut off canal flow on August 30, 2004.
...Figures 148, 149 and 151 show that several field parameters were not
measured on September 26, 2004 for the Terror Creek ground water
monitoring sites TC-03-01 East (R), TC-03-01 Upper (B) and TC-03-03,
although there was enough water to run full suite analyses. A similar situation
exists with drill holes DH676, DH67D (Reb), DH-67abv and DH-67b1w, as
shown in Figures 144, 145, 146 and 147. Please ensure that quarterly field
parameters are taken when required.
BRL - Apparently a new person performed the sampling and did not know field
sampling was required. According to BRL personnel, there was also a problem
with the field monitoring equipment.
