The spills or leaks occurred at the new recovery well
for cavity ~lA. In summary, the spills were a result of a lack of an adequate seal
for the power supply cable which is required on recovery wells to supply power
to submersible pump. Spills were small in quantity (300 and 600 gallons), with
high TDS and bicarb. Spills were restricted to the drill pad surface, with
contaminated subsoil removed to mud pit. Drainage pipe has been installed at the
well heads for wells IA-4HI and IA-SHR to prevent future spills. Also, a seal
has been ordered for the new type of well head for 1 A-SHR, which allowed the
discharge.
If there are any questions or need for additional information, please contact me.
Sincerely,
GB- ~~P2
Ed Baker, REM
Envir./Safety Manager
cc: Meeker BLM
Whlta River Nahcolite Mlnsrsls, Llmlted Llablllty Company
P.
