Dept. of Natural Resources
Eagle, CO 81631
RE: Nottingham Sand and Gravel Company - Eagle Pit
Dear Jim:
This letter is submitted to address concerns your staff has
with the recently submitted Environmental Impact Report.
1) . Concerns with phasing, area to be mined this year and
the area to be ultimately mined.
Please refer to the attached Exhibit C Revised. The area
currently mined is indicated. The long range plan is to mine
from the west end of this area all the way to the western
project boundary. After this area is mined, the mining will
then commence at the east end of the currently mined area and
proceed eastward to the east property limit or until it
becomes uneconomical to mine due to the narrowness of the
property.
It is anticipated that no more than five acres will be mined
this year. This is indicated on Exhibit C. However, if an
unusual volume of sales warrants a larger mining area, we would
like to reserve the right to submit a request to the County
for an extension of the mining area.
The ultimate area to be mined is the entire area indicated by
Exhibit A submitted with the Environmental Impact Report.
2) . Reclamation Plan, final contouring.
The original Reclamation Plan and Typical "Final" cross-section
submitted by Mr. Ron Liston, Land Design Partnership, still
represent the Rehabilitation Concept for the entire site. This
cross-section indicates that the area will be mined to a depth
of approximately thirty feet below natural ground. This is
at about the same elevation as the irrigation ditch. The
finished slope along the southern property limit will be 2 : 1 as
indicated.
The approximate final contours are indicated by dashed lines
on Exhibit A, Revised.
