GENERAL
On 10 December 1998. Mr. Gregg Squire and Mr. Cazl Mount of the Division of Mines
and Geology visited the operation. In the course of discussion with the owner, it was
determined that a new mine plan should be prepazed and submitted as a Technical
Revision to the original plan which was submitted in 1981. In compliance with this
determination, Jerome Gamba and Associates were retained to prepaze an "existing
conditions" map of the operation and prepare the new mine plan.
The site was surveyed using GPS equipment and a 3-foot contour interval topographic
map was prepared. Cross-sections were prepazed on 200-toot intervals across the site and
the quantities of gravel and overburden were computed, considering alternative
co~gurations for the final reclamation surface. The foilowing discussion describes the
anticipated procedure for the completion of mitring and reclamation of the site.
As illustrated on the Site Map (as of survey date 2-18-99), the gravel mining is advancing
toward the eastern end of the permit area. The mining operation has advanced to the
southern permit boundary, as defined by the top of the natural ridge, and
overburden/topsoil has been placed along the southern side of the pit to achieve a final
surface for reclamation with an approximate slope of 2.5 horizontal to 1 vertical.
A substantial stockpile of overburden topsoil is present in a pile, approximately 200 feet
wide by 1,200 feet long, along the north permit boundary on the east end of the permit.
Processing plant systems and material stockpiles occupy the existing bottom of the pit
between stations 8+00 and 26+00. The scale house and equipment maintenance facilities
aze located adjacent to the southern permit boundary between stations 29+00 and 30+00.
The existing pit bottom slopes from west to east and ranges in elevation from 6,175 to
6,140.
B.) MINING PLAN
of oravel reserves and overburden quantities indicate that sufficient
is available to allow for the mining of gravel and reclamation of the pit as
:rein and illustrated on the attached sheet ofcross-sections.
