<br />From Station 0+00 to Station 18+00, on the north side and 0+00 to 4+00 on the south <br />side, gravel will be extracted to a 1:1 slope. Following gravel extraction, the surface will <br />be backfilled with overburden material to a final reclaimed slope of 2.5 horizontal to 1 <br />vertical. Throughout the section of Stations 4+00 to 18+00, the southern extraction <br />surface will be left at a slope of 2.5:1 and overburden/topsoil will be added, as necessary, <br />to that surface for reclamation. From Station 18+00 through Station 30+00, gravel will <br />be excavated to a 1:1 surface on both sides of the pit, and the surface will be backfilled <br />with overburden to the final reclamation surface of 2.5:1 slope. <br />In order to accomplish the above noted plan, it may be necessary to relocate some of the <br />overburden material more than one time. The operation is anticipated to proceed as <br />follows: <br />!. Mining will continue, as it is presently occurring on the east end of the permit, down <br />to the approximate elevation of 6,120 and will advance easterly to a point wherein the <br />eastern and southern pit sides, in the gravel section, aze at a 1:1 slope without <br />disturbing the existing overburden pile on the northern side of the pit. An <br />undisturbed area, 25 feet in width, will be left along the top of the eastern end of the <br />permit for construction and maintenance of the ditch. The overburden removed from <br />this mining segment will be added to the existing overburden piles on the north side <br />of the pit and those along the south side of the pit. <br />2. After completion of operations as noted in (1.) above, the direction of mining will be <br />reversed to extend the approximate 6,1201eve1 pi[ floor, westerly until suf{cient <br />space is created on the pit floor to systematically move the processing plants and the <br />material stockpiles to that level. The presently existing overburden/topsoil pile along <br />the northeasterly permit boundary will be used to reclaim the slopes on the east end of <br />the permit, and the gravel exposed as the overburden is removed therefrom will be <br />mined in conjunction with the westerly advance of the pit floor. <br />3. When the existing overburden stockpile on the north side is depleted, similar material <br />stockpiled on the south side of the existing pit will be used to reclaim the slope on the <br />advancing north side. <br />4. As the mining face advances westerly, it is possible that the gravel quality will permit <br />the gradual lowering of the pit floor to the approximate 6,100 foot elevation. <br />Advancement of the pit floor northwesterly of the Basin ditch, which crosses the <br />permit, will require the relocation of the ditch. This relocation may involve the use of <br />an inverted siphon. Overburden removed from the area northwesterly of the ditch, <br />will be used to reclaim the pit slopes to the final 2.5 horizontal to 1.0 vertical as the <br />face advances westerly. <br />5.
