This
is not a phased operation but the area needing reclamation at any
one time is limited to 50.00 acres t. Denver Water Board and South
Adams County Water and Sanitation District are now the property
owners for the area to be mined in this permit. They began con-
struction of a slurry wall in December 2003 without obtaining the
necessary permit revisions. This issue was resolved at the January
2004 Mined Land Reclamation Board hearing that resulted in Suburban
Sand and Gravel Co., being fined for Denver Waters actions and
ordered to correct the problem. The items described below are
documentation of what happened and what our understanding of what
actions Denver Water plan to do to correct of the disturbed areas
where we had reclamation complete.
The permitted area is 168.41 acres t, the pit HAS NOT been
granted a Temporary Cessation and it HAS operated more than 180
days this year. A check for $688.00 is attached to cover the
annual fee. Please refer to the map attached for the areas dis-
cussed in this report.
(1) This entire disturbed area has been stripped of topsoil and
the topsoil was stockpiled around the site for use in reclama-
tion. At the current time we have 126.32 acres ± disturbed in
the pit. Of the total area disturbed at this time 2.69 acres
t is plant site area (cross-hatched, ///); 106.43 acres ±, is
lake area (blue), 1.14 acres is parking area; 4.43 acres is
graded, shaped(+++++); 7.75 acres ± is partially sloped.
Mining continued on areas previously disturbed around the lake
and we began to mine on 2.36 acres on the east side of the
mine (\\\) that will be below the normal lake surface. The
land owners (Denver Water) constructed a slurry wall along the
river and Brighton Road this year and disturbed area we previ-
ously had ready for seeding. The purple area on the map shows
the area disturbed that they will be reclaiming this spring
approximately 21.52 ac. The approximate location of the
slurry wall is shown on the map.
